Social Media Management

As the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for Blackhawk Company, SRU Army ROTC, I manage and produce digital media content that highlights training, leadership development, and cadet experiences. My role involves capturing photo and video content, editing media, writing captions, and maintaining a consistent and professional social media presence aligned with Army standards.

Instagram Reel Posts 

While much of the content highlights training and discipline, posts like this showcase the lighter side of the program. This pre-competition interview helped boost morale and performed strongly, earning nearly 7,000 views and 130+ interactions.

One of my first posts as acting PAO, this video highlights our program supporting the SRU community during WOW Move-In Day. It remains one of the top-performing posts, generating over 19,000 views across Facebook and Instagram and 200+ interactions.

This post highlights a training event where cadet teams competed in physical and tactical challenges, showcasing their development throughout the semester. It also expanded outreach by engaging audiences from participating schools, earning over 4,000 views and 130+ interactions.

Instagram Posts 

This post highlights a military dining-in, a tradition where soldiers come together to relax, build camaraderie, and celebrate. It effectively captured the atmosphere of the event, generating nearly 8,000 views, 140+ interactions, and 170+ likes.

This post showcases SRU ROTC Bootcamp, where incoming freshmen take part in physical challenges, team-building exercises, and receive their gear as part of their introduction to the program. It performed well, gaining 11,000+ views, 150+ interactions, and 200+ likes, while drawing engagement from parents, family, and friends.

My Role and Responsibilities 

  • Capture and edit photo/video content during training labs, PT, and events

  • Produce short-form video content (Instagram Reels) to increase engagement

  • Write professional captions aligned with Army ROTC messaging and tone

  • Manage and contribute to the SRU Army ROTC Instagram page

  • Coordinate with OIC/NCOIC and cadre for content planning and approval

  • Ensure all content follows Army public affairs guidelines (OPSEC, AR 360-1)

  • Lead and assist a small media team in content creation
